My first go at shucking an oyster. I bought 24 of these beauties in Oysterville, WA. It's where I should've been born.
This Austrian comfort food is perfect for rainy days. Watch your weeping eyes, the green apple horseradish packs a punch.

The best salad of all time. I added roasted beets and green cured olives to mix it up. The fingerling potatoes were blanched and then roasted for just a few minutes in duck fat.

My summer 2016 cooking challenge was to barbecue with recipes from around the globe. Yogurt marinated tandoori won hands down. I added red food dye like the restaurants do, but with enough paprika it's just as vibrant.

Soup and Otter Pops were my favorite foods to eat as a kid. I started making this from scratch a few years back. Asian markets have locally made wonton wrappers. The filling and folding of these sweet little dumplings is a relaxing way to end any day.

Blueberries, mint, basil, avocado, English cucumber, lemon vinaigrette, seal salt and fresh ground pepper tossed together.

This summer I canned 2 gallons of salsa. There's a farmer's market near my home and I'm going to miss their tomatoes over the winter. I roasted a variety of peppers on my grill until the skins just slightly burned.

Poke should be simple: avocado, sushi grade Ahi, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil. I paired mine with another salad of invention: roasted cherries and almonds over spinach with lemon vinaigrette.

Le Cirque's famed recipe reminds me of meals I ate in hotels and airports in the 80's.

This salad changed my life. It's the state dish of Arizona. This isn't the traditional recipe, but even better.

Portable food is the best food. There's a few mercados in my neighborhood that sell tortillas hecho a mano.

Almost impossible to eat, but impossible to ignore, Udon is my favorite Japanese warm dish. The secret is all in the dashi.
